Here’s the skinny on lodging options:
Camping at the Newell Ranch – There will be camping available on site. It will be rustic, involve clean portable toilets, and possibly a solar shower. It will also be a ton of fun.
Cabins at local hotel/motels – There is a limited supply of near by lodging options that are affordable. The options in Big Sur range from around $100 to $200+ for cabins or rooms that are really nice.
Recommendations in some sort of preferential order:
Riverside Campground and Cabins: 831-667-2414
- We have reserved cabins 3,4,5,6,7,8 & 9, under Ayres/Newell Wedding, through the end of Febuary. Call them directly to make a reservation.
- Please note that many of the cabins do not have private baths. Many of these are beautifully situated on the Big Sur River.
Big Sur Inn (Deetjens'): 831-667-2377
- As of mid-Feb, they still of many rooms available, but act fast!
- Deetjens is the most convenient option, just about a mile from the Newell Ranch, and their rooms are very unique. Rates are $85 to $250.
Ripplewood Cabins: 831-667-2414
- As of mid-Feb, their pickings are getting slim. This was my first preference for rooms but they are not in to large organized groups. If you can get one here, please don’’t mention a wedding.
- Rates are 100 to 170. Qute cabins, many situated on the Big Sur River.
Glen Oaks Motel: 831-667-2105
- This is a very nice and recently update motel. Very close to both Ripplewood Cabins and Riverside Campground and Cabins. Very nice/clean. Rooms are $175/Queen and $225/King
Big Sur Campground and Cabins: 831-667-2322
- Adjacent to Riverside Campground
Big Sur Lodge: 831-667-2171
- Big Sur Lodge is in the Big Sur State Park, relativly conventional for Big Sur.
Lucia Lodge: 831-667-2391
- Historic, incredible site, but a longer drive to the Newell Ranch
Post Ranch Inn: 831-667-2305
- Super swanky – and $$$$
Ventana Inn: 831-667-2331
- Swanky – and $$$·
Big Sur River Inn: 831-667-2700
- Motel, has a bar, and right on the highway but may be prefered to driving back to Carmel or Monterey
Fernwood: 831-667-2422
- Motel, Similar to Big Sur River Inn, has a bar, and right on the highway
Finally, there are lots of options in Carmel and Monterey. The drive from Carmel is about 35-45 minutes, but it’s a long and winding road for most folks. We encourage you to stay in Big Sur if you can. If you have any questions about any of these options or any of the reserved rooms, please call either of us or email either of us.
